MOSCOW, December 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin finds the terms of the gas contract concluded with Ukraine in 2009 just.

“I believed and believe that this contract is completely economically grounded. No one was ‘stifling’ anyone,” Putin told a major annual news conference in the Russian capital on Thursday.

Putin explained that presently the desire to help to the fraternal country and the fraternal nation had caused a gas price discount granted to Kiev.

On Tuesday, December 17, after the negotiations with Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the countries had reached an agreement to reduce the Russian gas price for Kiev by about 33 percent to 268.5 U.S. dollars for 1,000 cubic meters.

Putin hopes that the countries will succeed to agree on long-term work on the gas price for Ukraine. Putin has made a statement on the issue at a major news conference on Thursday.
