Russia hopes EU report on visa free dialogue “joint steps” will be positive

MOSCOW, December 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia hopes that the European Union report on “joint steps” towards a visa-free dialogue will be positive, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Federation Council, upper house of parliament, on Wednesday.

“The visa-free dialogue should be based on the principle of mutuality and this principle should be taken care of,” the minister said.

“Today we’re waiting for a report from the European Commission to assess measures, which have been taken based on the ‘joint steps’ list. We’ve presented our report and it is positive,” the minister said.

“If it happens, the principle of mutuality will prevail. We’ll be able to start preparing an agreement on visa free formalities,” he said.
