Putin: Real potential of Russia-Ukraine trade co-operation not fulfilled completely

In the previous year the bilateral trade went down 11% to 45 billion dollars and it decreased by 15% this year

MOSCOW, December 17, 21:08 /ITAR-TASS/. The real potential of trade cooperation between Russia and Ukraine is not fulfilled completely, even a downward tendency of reciprocal trade flows is taking shape, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a joint statement with visiting Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich in the Russian capital on Tuesday.

In the previous year the bilateral trade went down 11% to 45 billion dollars and it decreased by 15% this year. “We have discussed the reasons for this decline. We have agreed on several concrete measures to restore the trade volume. We have approved the action plan to settle trade restrictions seeking to ease up protecting and anti-dumping measures.

“I am convinced that its fulfilment will increase the supplies of Ukrainian products manifold in Russia and other Customs Union states. The workload of industrial enterprises will grow sharply in Ukraine and more jobs will be created,” the Russian president said.
