Russian MP. firing at police should be punished life-term

MOSCOW, December 14, 14:03 /ITAR-TASS/. Use of weapons against the police should be punished by a maximum responsibility, head of the State Duma’s committee on security and fighting corruption Irina Yarovaya said.

On Friday, two police were shot dead in northern Moscow as they were detaining suspects of extortion of 4.8 million roubles (146,000 dollars). One policeman died on the spot, and the other one - on the way to hospital. The police found two guns at the scene and detained three suspects.

“Every criminal should realise any armed attempt on the life of the police, the mere fact of using arms against the police would cause a life term, the maximum punishment,” the deputy said.
