MOSCOW, December 11, 23:50 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will use nuclear weapons if attacked, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at a Government Q&A session in the State Duma, lower house of parliament, on Wednesday, December 11.
“One can experiment forever deploying non-nuclear weapons on strategic vehicles, but everyone should bear in mind that if an act of aggression is committed against us, we will undoubtedly protect our territory and the highest state interests using nuclear weapons in certain situations in accordance with the doctrine we have adopted,” he said.
Rogozin said that any aggressor or a group of aggressors must understand this and this possibility would be the main deterrence against provocations or aggression against Russia.
“We have never belittled the role of nuclear weapons, vengeance weapons, as a great balancer of chances,” he added.
