MOSCOW, December 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that prospective military formations of the Russian Armed Forces should be formed in 2014 with an emphasis placed on the deployment of military formations in Arctic direction.
“Russia is developing this promising region more and more actively, the country is returning to it and should have here all levers for the protection of country’s security and national interests,” the president said at an enlarged meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry board on Tuesday.
“In the next year we should finalize the formation of new military units that make promising combat formations of the Russian Armed Forces,” Putin said.
Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has confirmed that in 2014 Russia will deploy armed forces to protect Russia’s interests in the Arctic.
