Russia’s official unemployment up to 864,000 in November

MOSCOW, December 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Official unemployment in Russia as of late November 2013 totaled 864,500, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said Monday.

“From October 30 to November 27, 2013 the number of unemployed registered with the employment offices added 1.6 percent, or 13,245, because of the seasonal factor and totaled 864,529 as of November 27,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, during the reporting period unemployment fell in 13 regions. The best decline was recorded in the Ingushetia and Dagestan. Unemployment grew in 70 regions, with Astrakhan, Tyumen, Kurgan and Omsk regions posting the sharpest growth.

“Employees who were idle at the employer’s initiative or working shorter hours as well as employees who went on leave by mutual consent amounted to 155,561,” the ministry said.
