Russia prepares for hosting conference of UN Convention against Corruption due 2015

MOSCOW, December 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is preparing actively for hosting the sixth conference of the countries participating in the UN Convention against Corruption, due in 2015, Russia’s presidential envoy on international cooperation in fighting terrorism and trans-national organised crime Alexander Zmeyevsky said in a commentary, placed on the site of Russia’s foreign ministry.

“The transnational character of the corruption requires uniting efforts of the international community,” the diplomat said. “Thus, we are paying special attention to the central coordinating role of the United Nations Organisation.”

“The Russian Federation cooperates closely with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime,” he said. “We have participated actively with the implementation of two major anti-corruption projects: the programme of anti-corruption ethic norms and anti-corruption requirements for businesses; and strategy planning of anti-corruption protective measures during major public events. The projects were presented at the Panama conference and received great attention from the participants.”

“Russia has been supporting permanently the UN electronic legal library in the anti-corruption sphere,” the diplomat said. “This resource is being updated and contains information on the member-countries’ anti-corruption legislations, as well as the list of their core authorities.”

“The sixth conference of the UN Convention against Corruption is due in Russia in 2015,” Zmeyevsky said. “We shall do everything possible to have the conference in Russia most effective and favouring further consolidation of anti-corruption efforts at the global, regional and national levels.
