Moscow ready for constructive cooperation with Jordan - ForMin

According to the ministry, Russia is satisfied that the period of uncertainty is over

MOSCOW, December 07, 14:20 /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow is ready for constructive cooperation with Jordan, which is elected as a member of the U.N. Security Council for the next two years, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, Russia is satisfied that the period of uncertainty is over. It emerged after Saudi Arabia decided to refuse to take a seat in the Security Council.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes it is important that Arab states will be represented in the U.N. Security Council, given the remaining tense situation in the Middle East region. "We are ready for constructive cooperation with Jordan on the entire range of issues on the U.N. SC agenda," the ministry said.

On Friday, the U.N. General Assembly held additional elections to non-permanent seats in the U.N. Security Council for 2014-2015. U.N. member countries by an overwhelming majority supported Jordan.
