Russian Ground Forces to take part in 12 international manoevres in 2014

MOSCOW, December 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Ground Forces will take part in 12 international manoeuvres in 2014, spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry for the Ground Forces, Major Kirill Kiselyov told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“In the period from July to October 2014, units and troops of the Ground Forces plan to conduct and participate in 12 joint peacekeeping and counter-terrorism exercises with units of the armed forces of Germany, France, Italy, India, Mongolia, as well as with troops of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member countries,” Kiselyov said.

According to him, the main event for the RF Ground Forces would be the Vostok-2014 strategic command-staff exercise that is planned to be conducted in the Eastern Military District.

The Defense Ministry spokesman stressed that a total of more than 100 tactical and special tactical training exercises, as well as field command-staff exercises and map exercises will be held in 2014. They will involve groups and units of army branches and special troops.
