Olga Golodets appointed chairperson of government’s Council on Russian Language

The Council is tasked to consider key issues in the area of state support and the development of the Russian language

MOSCOW, December 01, (ITAR-TASS). Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets was appointed chairwoman of the Council on the Russian Language under the Russian government, according to a governmental resolution posted on the official website of the cabinet on Sunday.

The Council is tasked to consider key issues in the area of state support and the development of the Russian language, and to work out proposals to improve the state policy in that sphere.

The Council includes heads of and representatives from federal executive and legislative authorities, regional governments, institutions of culture and educations, and the mass media.

“The Council was formed to coordinate the activities of all agencies involved in promoting the study and the use of the Russian language,” the document said.
