MOSCOW, December 01, 9:01 /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian ruling party United Russia marks its 12th anniversary on Sunday. Congratulating his fellow party members on this date, Chairman of the United Russia party and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted that this is a serious age for a political structure. “This is the time of political maturity and setting new tasks,” he said in a message of greetings.
Medvedev, who is at the helm of the party since spring 2012, noted that “a modern political system based on the principles of openness, competition and legitimacy is forming” in the country. In his view, real renovation of the governing bodies and the deputies of the party and a noticeably broader intraparty democracy point to this tendency.
He recalled that more than two million people are members of the party, its deputies constitute a majority in the State Duma lower house of parliament, regional and municipal authorities. “The ability to achieve the result, offer solutions, which meet actual needs of ordinary people has gained the authority of a party of real deeds to United Russia. The work aimed at the result helps us to win at the elections,” Medvedev stated, noting not to stop at what had been achieved.
“Today people expect openness, honesty, efficient settlement of acute problems from politicians. They trust those, who fulfil their pledges consistently. United Russia keeps its word. The trust of people to the party depends from each member of the party. From our common work,” Medvedev told the United Russia members.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was standing at the roots of forming United Russia, which was established at a congress on December 1, 2001. “Twelve years ago United Russia has brought together around national leader Vladimir Putin those who were seeking to preserve the unity of the country, make it really strong and independent,” Secretary of the United Russia General Council Sergei Neverov recalled, congratulating the fellow party members.
In his words, for these years much has changed in the country and the very United Russia. “But mostly important is that all this time our party continued to be the party that pursues the presidential policy and really resolved the problems of our citizens. Together we have passed a long and uneasy way,” the secretary of the United Russia General Council said, noting with confidence that the support which people give to the party at the elections is caused by this factor.
The United Russia success “primarily points to the assessment that Russian citizens give to those decisions, which the president initiates” and which the party that is represented in the Russian legislatures of all levels is fulfilling, Neverov said with confidence. “This is those decisions that people expect from us today. We do concrete deeds, which are needed to our citizens. And this is the main answer to the question what is United Russia today for the country and for the society,” Neverov noted.
Therefore, on its 12th anniversary, which is marked on a day-off this year, the party partisans celebrate at their workplaces, Neverov said. Public liaison offices of the prime minister are open throughout the country. “Each person who needs help can come here and get support and a consultation,” the secretary of the United Russia General Council pledged.
