SOCHI, November 29, 2:03 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday will summarize the results of the insections of the preparedness of the sports facilities for the Winter Olympic Games here.
The Head of State will go to Imeretia lowland for an inspection tour of the coastal cluster facilities. In particular, he will visit the central stadium "Fisht" (White Head in Adyghe language), where the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held next year. The deadline for putting the stadium into use is December 2013.
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Putin would familiarize himself with the state of affairs at the stadium and hold a closed-door conference on preparation of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.
The Fisht stadium is located in the Olympic Park in Imeretia so that the onlookers at the grandstands could admire simultaneously the mountain peaks in the north and the sea in the south. The stadium derives its name from Mount Fisht which has an altitude of 2,857 metres above sea level. A glacier at the top of the mountain serves as a prototype of the architectural concept of the central Olympic stadium. The roof of the facility is made from durable light-transmission film material. When looking in the direction of the mountain, one can see that the stadium resembles a rocky cliff by its shape.
At the close of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2014, the Fisht stadium will become a place for the holding of soccer matches by the Russian national team, and serv as a sports training center, and a venue of mass entertainment events and shows (the stadium's capacity will be increased to accommodate up to 45,000 people).
Putin warned all those involved in the holding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games about not getting relaxed in the two months that remain before the start of the sports festival and not diverting their attentio to the celebration of the advent of the New Year.
"Slightly more than two months remain before the commencement of the Olympic Games. As I already said and you confirmed, there are things that must be carried through and refined to the end," the Head of State said in remarks at the presentation of the preparedness of the Olympic facilities. "The concluding phase of such large-scale events is the most difficult one. Very much will depend during the Olympics proper on how we all pass through it. Meanwhile, we have ahed of us the New Year and Christmas celebrations.(I warn you that) Your New Year will come about on March 17, the day when the Paralympic Games will come to a close".
On Friday, thePresident will finalize a series of conferences dealing with the State-placed defence order. These refer to high-precision weaponry. Putin has already discussed the modernization of the Strategic Missile Forces, the development of the naval nuclear forces, the Air Force and Space Defence Forces with the commanders of troops and general designers of defence enterprises.
