SOCHI, November 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold several meetings over progress of fulfillment of the Russian state defense order for military enterprises. The president has made a statement on Wednesday, opening a meeting on the development of the Russian Strategic Missile Troops. “I propose to take a broader look at this issue, I would like to learn about the chief designers and commanders of specific arms of troops during these meetings. As for the civil aspect, I would like to learn how a contracting party formulates its order, at which extent this order is stable, how the funding is going on, how rhythmically it is going on and how the administrative support is provided,” he said. Putin added that he would like to learn from the military how the production industries cope with the tasks, whether everything is being done timely and whether the products of proper quality are delivered.
“Certainly, I would like to learn from the military, specialists of the production industries, our chief designers what would be possible and what, you believe, would be needed to do for the future, that is to say, take a look beyond the horizon. I refer to modern ways of waging armed struggle and our ideas how this will develop and what would be possible to do proceeding from the today’s situation, available funding, probably improve something, probably move the deadlines in some direction according to the schedule,” the president said, proposing to the participants in the meeting to engage in this problem without any haste and in detail.
This series of meetings began with the debates on the situation in the Strategic Missile Troops. Putin recalled that the Russian Strategic Missile Troops make the backbones of country’s combat capability and guarantee our sovereignty already for 50 years. “In late October a surprise drill of the Russian Strategic Missile Troops was conducted. It exposed that the troops are on high alert,” Putin stated. Two test-launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles were made from the firing grounds situated in different districts of the country and they had successfully hit the conventional targets in Kamchatka Peninsula at the set time. “I note that these missiles have already been on combat duty for more than 20 years, and this surprise drill showed that their resource is absolutely reliable,” Putin said, noting that, however, it is needed to look forward and arm the troops with new generations of military hardware.
