Russia and Belarus consider joint space projects

MINSK, November 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) may open a representative office in Belarus, organisation head Oleg Ostapenko said after talks with Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich on Wednesday.

"This should stimulate our joint work,” Ostapenko said.

The two parties will form a task group to develop joint projects including "laser technologies, remote sensing of the Earth and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS)”.

Myasnikovich said he was confident that space cooperation would be successful. He noted earlier discussions with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on building a terrestrial remote sensing satellite and setting up a joint company to build space vehicles.
