Coast defense troops to be provided with robotic rocketry systems

MOSCOW, November 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Robotic rocketry systems will be phased into service with the Coast defense troops of the Russian Navy before 2050, Major-General Alexander Kolpachenko, chief of the Coast defense troops of the Russian Navy, told journalists on Wednesday, the 308th anniversary of the creation of Marines — an arm of the Cost defense troops of the Navy.

"Before 2050, the Coast defense troops are to be provided with robotic rocketry systems capable of employing weapons based on various physical principles and hitting enemy targets in various environments — in the air, underwater, and in outer space," Kolpachenko said.

In the short term, General Kolpachenko added, the main aspect of the development of Coast defense troops will be to finalize the creation of an advanced missile system armed with rockets of various types and to supply them to coast missile units.
