Bilateral Year of Culture to help expand Russian-UK exchanges

MOSCOW, November 22./ITAR-TASS/. Bilateral Year of Culture will facilitate the expansion of cultural, humanitarian and scientific exchanges between Russia and Britain, the Foreign Ministry reported.

The ministry commented on Friday’s consultations between Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and British Minister of State for European Affairs David Lindington.

“Titov and Lidington exchanged views on key international and regional issues - Iran’s nuclear program, the situation in Syria and Afghanistan,” the ministry said.

“Progress has been achieved in bilateral relations and in the political dialogue. The diplomats discussed preparations for a regular session of the Russian-British Strategic Dialogue at the level of foreign and defense ministers,” the ministry said.

Titov and Lidington said “it was necessary to strengthen trade, economic and investment cooperation. The intergovernmental committee for trade and investments proved this”, the ministry said.
