MAKHACHKALA, November 20, /ITAR-TASS/. The militants killed a shootout with police in northern Dagestan on Wednesday belonged to the so-called Khasavyurt gang, a police officer told Itar-Tass.
"One of the killed gunman has already been identified," the police officer said, adding that police have information that both were members of the Khasavyurt gang.
Two militants and their accomplice - who was the wife of one of them - were killed in a shootout with police in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt district earlier on Wednesday. Law-enforcers blocked the house where the militants were hiding. The active phase of the operation began after the gunmen refused to surrender.
