New York, October 5. (Itar-Tass) – A suspect in the Paramus shooting has been identified. Law enforcements named Richard Shoop, a 20-year-old resident of Teanek, as the gunmen who opened fire in the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall. The authorities reported that Shoop was most likely in the mall’s vicinity, believing that he could have escaped the building in the chaos.  Paramus mayor Richard Labarbiera reported earlier that no one was injured during the shooting.

The incident happened shortly before closing time. Onlookers said that the gunmen wore black and was armed with a rifle. Hundreds of police officers surrounded the building and evacuated people from the mall. A large portion of visitors and staff hid in stores and utility areas.

Garden State Plaza Mall is one of the largest malls in New York’s proximity, housing almost 300 stores.
