RF president signs law on Russian Science Fund

The Fund is established for financial and organisational support of fundamental science and research, the development of research teams

MOSCOW, November 4 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the law of the Russian Science Fund. The document was published on Sunday on the official portal of legal information.

The Fund is established for financial and organisational support of fundamental science and research, the development of research teams, occupying the leading positions in a particular field of science.

The law determines the Fund’s management bodies (the Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and Director General) and also establishes their powers. The chairman, board of directors and members of the Board of Trustees - a total of 15 members, are appointed by the RF president for a term not exceeding five years. Their powers may be terminated ahead of time under a decision of the head of state. The Fund shall provide annual reports to the RF president and government on its activities.

The annual budget allocations for the Fund’s activity can reach 3 billion roubles.
