BANGKOK, November 3 (Itar-Tass) - Medics have pronounced brain death of a Russian child who was taken to hospital after a ferryboat accident near Thailand’s Pattaya, a source in the Pattaya hospital told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“The child is in critical condition,” the source said. “Brain death has been attested. The mother is in condition of moderate gravity. She has facial cuts and needs surgery.”
Earlier, local police said that two Russians had been killed in the accident. Other victims were a Chinese citizen and three Thailand nationals.
the two-deck ferryboat with about 200 people, including foreign tourists was on a redeye flight from the island of Ko Lan to Pattaya, when it overturned some 100 metres off the coastline. An investigation is underway.
