Russian, Belarusian Defense Ministries’ joint collegiate to discuss military integration prospects

Participants will primarily discuss implementation of the two Defense Ministries’ bilateral cooperation plan

MOSCOW, October 29 (Itar-Tass) - The participants in a regular meeting of the joint collegium of the Defense Ministries of Russia and Belarus will discuss in Moscow on Tuesday prospects for the two countries’ military integration, Russia's Defense Ministry’s information office told Itar-Tass.

The participants will primarily discuss implementation of the two Defense Ministries’ bilateral cooperation plan in 2013 and will identify targets for the further development of integration processes in the military sphere.

“In accordance with the agenda, the meeting participants will sum up the results of the Zapad 2013 (West 2013) joint military exercise of the two countries’ armed forces,” the office said. “The sides will discuss the implementation of plans of joint activities of the Defense Ministries of Russia and Belarus to ensure military security of the Union State for 2013 - 2015.”

According to the Defense Ministry, it is also planned to consider the concept of the Union State program for 2013-2017 to improve the military infrastructure facilities that is planned for joint use in the interests of support of the two countries’ regional forces.

The sides will also discuss the activities determined by the interstate agreement on the joint air protection of the external border of the Union State.
