Ecuador president arrives in Moscow

Correa will visit the innovative centre Skolkovo and the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship

MOSCOW, October 28 (Itar-Tass) - President of the Republic of Ecuador Rafael Correa Delgado arrived in the Russian capital of Moscow on an official visit on Monday. The airplane of the Ecuadorian president landed at the Moscow airport Vnukovo-2.

In Moscow Rafael Correa is to have negotiations with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on October 29. The leaders of the countries hope to discuss the guidelines of bilateral cooperation, primarily in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the Kremlin press service reported. Upon results of the talks several bilateral documents are planned to be signed.

Before the visit to Moscow the Ecuadorian president visited St. Petersburg, where he met with St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko. Correa invited prominent St. Petersburg scientists to visit Ecuador and participate in the creation of a scientific township, which will be specialized in bio- and nanotechnologies, information systems and textile industry. Along with this, the president said with hope that the number of students from Ecuador will grow at the Russian higher educational institutions.

The negotiators also agreed to develop cooperation in economy and culture. St. Petersburg and the port city Guayaquil will sign an agreement on cooperation in the near future. The official Ecuadorian delegation will arrive in the city on Neva River for the purpose.

During a visit to Moscow Correa will visit the innovative centre Skolkovo, the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship, where he will be awarded with the title of honorary doctor of the university and will be granted the gown of the university.

The Russian visit of the Ecuadorian president will last until October 30.
