MOSCOW, October 27 (Itar-Tass) - Following an interval of two and a half years, former speaker of the Russian parliament’s upper house Sergei Minoronov has been elected chairman of A Just Russia party.
A total of 396 delegates of the party’s 7th Congress underway in Moscow voted in his favor and another 31 delegates voted against him.
He has replaced Nikolai Levichev, who occupied the post since April 2011.
Mironov was chairman of the party the first time as of the moment of its foundation in 2006 and through to April 2011.
Nikolai Levichev, on his part, has become chairman of party’s Council of Parliamentary Deputies. His appointment was endorsed by 332 delegates, with 104 others voting against him.
“The decision has been taken and let me congratulate Nikolai Levichev on the occasion of this election,” Mironov said.
