Azerbaijan’s president elect takes oath

Aliyev, 51, won the presidential election of October 9, having gained support from 84.54 percent of the vote

BAKU, October 19 (Itar-Tass) - Ilham Aliyev, who has been elected for the third presidential term in Azerbaijan, has taken an oath on Saturday.

Aliyev, 51, won the presidential election of October 9, having gained support from 84.54 percent of the vote.

The inauguration takes place at the country’s parliament. Here, the tradition of many years has been changed - previously newly elected heads of the country took the oath at the country’s major concert hall - the Palace named after Geidar Aliyev. In October 1993 President Geidar Aliyev’s inauguration was organised there, and later on - in 2003 and 2004 - Ilham Aliev took the oath there.
