MOSCOW, October 18. (ITAR-TASS). Suicide bombing was allegedly committed in the courtyard of the village mosque in Kabardino-Balkaria. As reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, “fragments of bodies, presumably, of two people were found on the site of the explosion, no other victims reported”.

At the site of the attack were found an assault rifle, two pistols, grenades and ammunition. The power of the explosive device is estimated at more than 1 kg TNT. “According to a preliminary version, the cause of the explosion was suicide bombing,” the Investigative Committee reported.

The Kalashnikov gun, found at the site, has been stolen as a result of an armed attack by militants on police officers in the Baksansky district in July 2008, as the press service of Kabardino-Balkarian Interior Ministry department told Itar-Tass.

A powerful blast occurred on Friday about 3:00 a.m. local time (23:00 GMT) in Dugulubgei village of the Baksansky district, Kabardino-Balkaria, in one meter from the cemetery entrance, not far from a mosque. The explosion left a crater 3 meters wide and about one meter deep.

“The investigators have begun to inspect the scene. Necessary measures are taken to establish all the circumstances of the explosion,” the Investigative Committee reported.
