Over 3 million migrants stay in Russia illegally

Russia’s Federal Migration Service reported new data over illegal migrants

MOSCOW, October 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Federal Migration Service said on Tuesday 3.6 million migrants were staying in Russia illegally.

“According to our database, today 11.3 million foreign migrants are staying on the territory of Russia. Of them 3.6 million are illegal migrant workers,” the deputy head of the Federal Migration Service, Yelena Radochina, told a Public Chamber meeting.

She explained that the statistics did not encompass persons who illegally crossed the border, it included only those who had entered Russia under the visa-free rules and stayed on its territory for over 90 days.
