LONDON, October 14. (ITAR-TASS). — UK police does not rule out that the four people detained in the British capital during the counter-terrorist operation could prepare an attack similar to what has happened in the Westgate shopping mall in Kenya, as The Evening Standard newspaper reports.

The police claim the men had access to firearms. The detained allegedly were in sight of the police and MI5 for a while.

ITV channel reports that all the detainees are British citizens, but the origin of all is different - Turkish, Algerian, Azerbaijani and Pakistani. Those arrested were reportedly questioned by the police on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

Earlier, BBC reported that “arrests and searches took place on Sunday evening at six locations in the eastern and central parts of the capital”. The Metropolitan Police stressed that “these actions were planned and carried out on the basis of intelligence data”.
