Three Russians detained in Cyprus on suspicion of robbing Louis Vuitton shop

The Russians were trying to carry over 60 bags of the world famous brand through the passport control at Paphos airport

NICOSIA, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Police in Paphos airport in Cyprus have confirmed the detention of three Russian nationals on Sunday on suspicion of robbing a Louis Vuitton shop in Nicosia.

The Russians were trying to carry over 60 bags of the world famous brand through the passport control at Paphos airport.

One of the three detainees phoned the Russian consulate in Nicosia late on Sunday to tell about the incident. His name is being kept secret. It is known that he is from Yaroslavl. The man said that he had not stolen any bags but had only helped the other two Russians who, he believed, should face charges. He also asked for an interpreter because he had stomach problems and needed treatment.

Russian consul in Nicosia Alexander Anikin said that he had handed over the requests to the police. The Russians will stay in custody for the next three days or even longer until all the circumstances of the incident are established.
