MOSCOW, October 5 (Itar-Tass) - Russia in ten days’ time will introduce a new system of registering motor vehicles, which will make motorists’ life far easier, the Interior Ministry’s press-centre told the media on Friday.
“Under the new rules taking effect October 15 anyone who wants to sell a car will not have to apply for cancelling the vehicle’s registration and to hand in the old license plates first. All registration formalities will be carried out at the request of the car’s new owner,” the Interior Ministry said. Besides, both individuals and legal entities will be able to have a vehicle registered at any traffic police office across the country irrespective of one’s permanent address.
Interior Ministry officials hope that the new registration formalities will take just one hour to complete, in contrast to current three hours. And the time a motorist will have to spend in queue to apply for registration will be reduced to fifteen minutes.
