MAKHACHKALA, October 2 (Itar-Tass) - Two policemen have been killed in two separate incidents in southern Russia’s Dagestan republic over the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the republican interior ministry told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, late on Tuesday unidentified people gunned down a policeman off duty in a roadside cafe in Dagestan’s Khasavyurt region. The attackers rushed from the scene in a hijacked vehicle. Later the car was found near the local settlement of Botashyurt, the spokesman said.
In another development, an unidentified person killed a policeman in the Kizilyurt district. The policeman, an inspector of a police dog service, was killed when driving a car on his way from home. “He died of wounds,” the spokesman said, adding that there had been other attacks on that policeman earlier.
Investigation teams work at the two sites.
