MOSCOW, October 1 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulated employees and veterans of OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) on the 10th anniversary of company’s foundation, the Russian governmental press service reported on Tuesday.
“The establishment of the joint stock company became an important stage of reforming the Russian railway industry, which is of strategic importance for our huge country and which serves to the country’s unity in the direct sense of the word,” the prime minister said in a congratulatory telegram.
“Nowadays OJSC Russian Railways is among the leaders of global transportation logistical market and resolves successfully the scope of tasks, which are related with higher efficiency and competitiveness of the railway industry and the quality of services to the passengers. The company opens new railway stations, bridges and tunnels, does much for the development of express train traffic and high-speed railway traffic, participates actively in the construction of the railway infrastructure for the Sochi Olympics, the FIFA World Cup,” the prime minister noted.
“Socially important projects seeking to preserve the Russian historical and cultural heritage, country’s spiritual traditions, assistance to education and enlightenment are an important aspect of RZD’s work,” he added.
“Each of these achievements is based on the work of railway workers, people of different vocations, who take their work with responsibility and seek to work in the modern and professional way,” Medvedev said in the congratulatory message.
