Catherine Ashton and Sergei Lavrov discuss Russia-EU visa issue

MOSCOW, September 25 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Deputy Chairwoman of the European Commission Catherine Ashton discussed several topical issues in the relations between Russia and the European Union, including the situation in the visa talks. The meeting was held at the 68th session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Tuesday according to the schedule of Russia-EU political dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday.

Lavrov and Ashton also discussed “topical issues of the international agenda, including resolution of the crisis in Syria, prospects of Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the role of the Quartet of international mediators and the efforts for political resolution of the Iranian nuclear problem,” the ministry reported.
