MOSCOW, September 23 (Itar-Tass) - A second suspect in the murder of First Secretary of the Russian Embassy to Abkhazia Dmitry Vishernev has been detained in Nalchik.

Spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass that “another suspect - Iskhan Sabanchiyev, born in 1988, has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the investigated crimes.”

He has been taken into custody at the request of the investigation.

First Secretary of the Russian Embassy to Abkhazia Dmitry Vishernev was shot dead in Sukhum - the capital of Abkhazia, on September 9. He died of a gunshot wound in the head. The wife of the killed diplomat, Olga, was seriously wounded during the attack.

The tragedy coincided with the fifth anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Abkhazia. Representatives of the authorities of both Russia and Abkhazia have declared that the attack was politically motivated.
