MAKHACHKALA, September 23 (Itar-Tass) - The power of the blast near a police precinct in the settlements of Khuchni, Dagestan, was equivalent to 50-100 kilograms TNT, a spokesman for the republican investigative committee told Tass.

The car bomb which went off near a police precinct in the settlement of Khuchni in Dagestan has claimed two lives; nine people were injured.

The car blast has been qualified as a terrorist act, a spokesman for the republican investigating committee told Itar-Tass.

He said a criminal case was opened under the following articles of the Russian Criminal Code: “Terrorist Act", “Arms Trafficking” and “Illegal Manufacturing of Explosive Devices”.

The suicide bomber is being identified.

The blast occurred early Monday. According to a representative of the Interior Ministry, “a car with a terrorist was moving near a local police precinct, then it sharply turned towards the building and exploded”. “It did not drive into the territory of the police precinct, but exploded near a two-storey building under construction,” the source added.
