Lavrov: Interaction among CSTO member-states especially timely

“We are concerned over developments in Afghanistan over the 2014 factor,” Russia's Foreign Minister said

SOCHI, September 23 (Itar-Tass) - Interaction among member-states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization becomes especially timely over developments in Afghanistan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a joint meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers’ Council, the Defense Ministers’ Council, and the Committee of Security Councils’ Secretaries on Monday.

“We are concerned over developments in Afghanistan over the 2014 factor,” he said. “It is important to prevent the situation from affecting the whole region.”

“Our interaction in these conditions becomes especially timely,” Lavrov said. “We take over presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization from Afghanistan and are set to take serious efforts in counteracting new challenges and threats.”
