MOSCOW, September 18 (Itar-Tass) - A gunman was killed, one more gunman was detained, the search for the third bandit continues in a special operation in the North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, the information centre of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

The task force of the police and the Federal Security Service has spotted a car with three armed bandits inside on the outskirts of the settlement of Timiraul in Khasavyurt district, Dagestan, on Tuesday evening. The car was earlier hijacked by the criminals from a resident of the town of Khasavyurt under the threat of use of gun.

“In an attempt to detain the criminals they opened fire at law enforcers. A bandit was killed in the retaliatory fire. He turned out to be Abdula Labazanov, born in 1977, a member of the so-called Khasavyurt gang. According to the operations headquarters of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, Labazanov is involved in several crimes, including massive money extortion and murders of civilians, including a woman, in the settlement of Karlanyurt last August,” the information centre reported.

Meanwhile, Labazanov was involved in the training of a female suicide bomber, who is on the federal wanted list.

“The second criminal was injured, escaped in the forest, but was detained. A grenade, pistols and ammunition to them were found at the clash site and in the car,” the information centre reported.

The search for the third bandit continues.

“The task force of the Federal Security Service, police and the Defence Ministry, including commandoes, are involved in the special operation at the decision of the operations headquarters in Dagestan,” the information centre said.
