MOSCOW, September 18 (Itar-Tass) - A Russian emergency airplane Ilyushin Il-76, which is carrying Chairman of the Russian Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev and an official accompanying him, who were injured in a road accident in Ghana, West Africa, departed from this African country to the Russian capital of Moscow, spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Irina Rossius told Itar-Tass.
“The condition of Lebedev, who was injured in a road accident in Ghana, is estimated as stably heavy. The doctors from the emergency task force Tsentrospas and the all-Russia emergency medicine centre Zashchita are providing all medical aid to him during the flight,” she said.
The airline is provided with a special medical module. The airplane also has a reanimobile onboard.
“The airplane Il-76 will land at the Moscow regional airfield Ramenskoye in about nine hours,” Rossius said.
Vyacheslav Lebedev was taken to Ghana’s central clinical hospital. According to preliminary reports, Lebedev has spinal and costal injuries and collar bone dislocation. In general, his state of health is out of danger.
In the evening on September 16, a truck collided with a car, in which the chairman of the Russian Supreme Court was driving. Lebedev was driving back to the city of Accra, Ghana’s capital, from the city of Ho. According to local authorities, the road accident occurred at about 19:00 Moscow time (15:00 GMT) on the highway near the settlement of Tsito.
The chairman of the Russian Supreme Court is in a good mood, is feeling quite well and wants to recuperate quickly, press secretary of the Russian Supreme Court Pavel Odintsov said. Together with Lebedev the Russian delegation included the chairpersons of Moscow and Saratov regional courts. None of them were injured.
