Over 2,000 evacuated from Far East flooded areas by military amphibian carriers

Forty bridge-erection boats are evacuating the civilian population and transporting cargoes

MOSCOW, September 13 (Itar-Tass) - On Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry troops evacuated from the flooded areas of the Far Eastern Federal District, mostly from the Komsomolsk district, more than two thousand people, 347 pieces of equipment and about 1.5 tons of cargo, the ministry’s press service reported.

Forty bridge-erection boats are evacuating the civilian population and transporting cargoes. In addition, 15 amphibian carriers are used for this.

More than 23 thousand 400 people, 5 thousand pieces of equipment and more than 15 thousand tons of cargo have been transported over a month from the disaster area by soldiers. The military have made three bridge crossings, built two ferry-bridge crossings and one pontoon bridge crossing, the report said.
