Court to start proceedings over Navalny’s claim September 16

MOSCOW, September 13. (Itar-Tass). – The Moscow City Court on September 16 will start action proceeding of a lawsuit filed by oppositionist Alexei Navalny who demands cancellation of the Moscow mayoral election results.

“Pre-action on Navalny’s suit is scheduled for September 16 and will take place behind closed doors,” the court’s press service told Itar-Tass.

The victory on Moscow mayoral elections on September 8 was achieved by Sergei Sobyanin that won 51,37% of votes. Second came Alexei Navalny with 27,24% of votes.

On Wednesday, September 11, Navalny filed to the Moscow City Court with a lawsuit on cancelation of election results. He also filed another 951 suits on results cancellation in precincts. As the press service of the Moscow City Court to Itar-Tass, “by the law, the court will decide on allowance of the claim within 5 days”.

Meanwhile, the Moscow City Court rejected Navalny’s claim demanding to put on hold Sobyanin’s inauguration until action proceedings. The ceremony of inauguration of Sergei Sobyanin took place on Thursday, September 12.
