BISHKEK, September 13 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that an economic aspect of cooperation between the member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should be reviewed.

“It is possible to achieve highest benefits and to minimize the risks, if the integration in the world economy will be continued, as economic, energy and food security of the SCO states should be ensured,” the Kazakh presidential press service quoted Nazarbayev as saying at a meeting of the organization’s Council of the Heads of States in Bishkek on Friday.

In this regard, the Kazakh leader noted the program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation, the plan to fulfill this cooperation and the list of measures to develop the projects within the SCO should be implemented consistently.

Meanwhile, in the view of Nazarbayev, the creation of a special account (that will be a fund of development) and a SCO bank of development will make economic cooperation more efficient. He also named the use of the potential of the SCO Business Council and the SCO Inter-bank Association as other instruments to build up partnership.

“The signing of an intergovernmental agreement providing favorable conditions for international motor shipments will be important for transport cooperation,” the Kazakh president said.

Alongside, the Kazakh president said that a SCO energy club and a SCO mechanism to ensure food security should be created. Nazarbayev also focused on water problems in the region and the need to launch an open venue for debates over this issue.

Nazarbayev also noted the importance of a stronger SCO cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the Kazakh presidential press service said in its press release.

“We find further deepening of cooperation in culture, education, health care, environment protection, science and technologies, sports and tourism as an important aspect of the Shanghai cooperation process,” the Kazakh president said.
