Lavrov: Documents for creation of Eurasian Economic Union to be drafted timely

ASTANA, September 12 (Itar-Tass) - The documents for the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union will be drafted timely, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the negotiations with Kazakh counterpart Erlan Idrisov here on Thursday.

“We were speaking about considerable progress in the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union today. The working schedule is agreed upon and is being fulfilled,” Lavrov noted.

“There are all grounds to say that the documents will be drafted timely,” the minister said.

He also noted that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev would make a visit to Kazakhstan, . "We are satisfied with our economic cooperation", Lavrov said. The minister added that the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan will meet again at SCO summit in Bishkek.

As stated by board member (minister) of Eurasian Economic Commission's for main areas of integration and macroeconomic Tatiana Valovaya, "there is a political decision of the presidents (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan), repeatedly confirmed, and there is no doubt that from 1 January 2015, this new regional international organization will become a reality. Earlier, representatives of Russia's Ministry of Economic Development reported that the agency expects to submit to the President of the Customs Union (CU) the agreement on establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union in the first quarter of 2014. The Treaty establishing the union must be signed by May 1, 2014.
