KIEV, September 10 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has denied the information on participation of Ukrainian mercenaries in Syria’s military action, the director of the ministry’s information policy department, Yevgeny Perebeinos, told a news conference on Tuesday.
In response to a Syrian ambassador’s words on Ukrainian mercenaries’ participation in the military conflict “the ministry announces with responsibility that such statements are groundless and there is nothing behind these unfounded statements,” Perebeinos said. “Such statements should be corroborated with facts.”
Earlier President Viktor Yanukovich said Ukraine opposed the use of force in settling Syria’s conflict and called for applying international political and legal mechanisms for resolving the problem.
