Libya thanks Russia for support of ongoing internal processes

Foreign Minister Muhammad Abdelaziz noted that Russia played a positive role in recognizing UN Security Council Resolution 1973 regarding protection of civil population in Libya

MOSCOW, September 10 (Itar-Tass) - Libya has expressed gratitude to Russia for support of ongoing internal processes in the Arab country, Foreign Minister Muhammad Abdelaziz said after talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.

Abdelaziz noted that Russia played a positive role in recognizing UN Security Council Resolution 1973 regarding protection of civil population in Libya. “We have agreed on coordination and interaction within the UN Sanctions Committee,” he said. “Libya plans to add several proposals to the list of the existing ones. We highly appreciate Russia’s position in international structures on this issue.”

“I believe that the period of transition from revolution to the construction of nationhood in Syria proceeds not simply,” Abdelaziz said. “Now the world community should continue to provide assistance to Libya’s people in building modern civil institutions, restoring democratic values, ensuring security and creating necessary conditions to bring life in the country back to normal.”
