Passenger train locomotive derails in Saratov Region

MOSCOW, September 6 (Itar-Tass) - The locomotive of a passenger train that was on the way from Murmansk to Astrakhan has derailed in the Saratov Region, a source at the central Russian regional transport police department told Itar-Tass.

The motorman applied the emergency brake at 14:25 on the railroad between Tamala and Vertunovskaya. According to the preliminary information, the cause was a railroad defect, the source at the press service said.

More than 700 passengers were in the train.

According to the transport police, the train is pulled to the station of Tamala to change the locomotive. Then, the train will depart for the destination. When it arrives at the station of Rtishchevo, it will be met by medics and transport policemen to render first aid if necessary, the source said.

Nobody is reported hurt in the accident.
