Russian and Chinese ministers meet on missile defense

Antonov also met Brunei's Energy Minister, Yasmin bin Umar, to exchange views on broadening bilateral military and technical cooperation

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov and Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan discussed missile defense issues on the sidelines of an international conference in Brunei on Thursday. They gathered for the second conference of defense ministers of the Association of South-East Asian Nations, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service said on Friday.

The two sides reviewed prospects for increased cooperation between their ministries, taking in preparations for the 18th meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on military technical cooperation, to be held in Moscow in October.

They exchanged views on international issues, focusing on missile defense and security measures covering the Asia-Pacific region, the press service said.

Antonov also met Brunei's Energy Minister, Yasmin bin Umar, to exchange views on broadening bilateral military and technical cooperation and themes of regional and international security.
