Academy of Sciences to participate in establishment of Council of Chief Designers of military hardware

At meetings of the would-be Council the designers may exchange ideas on the development of advanced models

MOSCOW, August 29 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Academy of Sciences will take part in the establishment of a Council of Chief Designers, Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin said in his Twitter.

Rogozin said that on Wednesday he reached an agreement with President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Fortov on the Academy’s participation in the establishment of the Council of Chief Designers under the chairman of the Russian defense-industrial complex.

Back in spring Rogozin had demanded that defense enterprises and the Ministry of Trade and Industry should upgrade the status of designers of military hardware. A number of related enterprises, such as Rostechnologii, Oboronprom, Helicopters of Russia, were instructed to take steps for the purpose of upgrading the general status of the designers and better appreciation of their role in the development of the military hardware which meets the latest world standards.

One of the first steps in this direction is the establishment of the Council of Chief Designers of defense enterprises under the Commission of the Defense-Industrial complex.

At meetings of the would-be Council the designers may exchange ideas on the development of advanced models irrespective of the financial interests of the holdings they represent.
