MOSCOW, August 28 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Investigative Committee has exposed the criminals involved in the murder of Ingush Security Council Secretary Akhmed Kotiyev, spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told reporters on Wednesday.
“Thanks to the professional work of detectives from the central staff of the Russian Investigative Committee in close cooperation with the task forces of the police and the Federal Security Service department in the North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia, it was discovered that members of the gang led by Artur Getagazhev, who are rampaging in Malgobek district of the Republic of Ingushetia, are involved in the attempt on Ingush Security Council Secretary Akhmed Kotiyev,” Markin stated.
The gang of Artur Getagazhev is involved in several attempts on lives of law enforcers and a terrorist act, which was committed at funerals of a police officer in August 2012.
Ingush President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov claimed on Tuesday that the occupational activity was behind the attempt on the life of Akhmed Kotiyev. He explained that “Kotiyev was engaged in the adaptation of former members of illegal armed units to the peaceful life.” “He was not afraid of voicing openly his opinion to former members of illegal armed units and their relatives,” the regional leader said.
Yevkurov noted that Kotiyev was a brave and valorous man. “It is a matter of honour to find a killer,” he stated.
Secretary of Ingushetia’s Security Council Akhmed Kotiyev, who was injured in an attempt on his life, died on Tuesday.
A VAZ-21099 car, in which Kotiyev and his driver were driving, came under fire at 07:30 Moscow time on Tuesday on the Malgobek-Nazran road near the settlement of Nizhniye Achaluki in Malgobek district of the republic.
The driver died instantaneously at the murder scene, Akhmed Kotiyev died on the way to the hospital. The attackers escaped.
The previous attempt on the life of Kotiyev was committed about a year ago. At that time an unidentified gunman shot at Kotiyev’s house from an underbarrel grenade launcher; the house was damaged, but Kotiyev was not injured during the incident.
