YEKATERINBURG, August 28 (Itar-Tass) - Sverdlovsk region prosecutors have begun a check into alleged connection of mayoral candidate and anti-drug campaigner Yevgeny Roizman to ethnic criminal groups.
"This information was aired on a federal television channel. Prosecutors will check the information for authenticity," the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Head of the City Without Drugs foundation Roizman is a mayoral candidate for the Civil Platform Party. The election will take place on Single Voting Day, which is September 8.
