MOSCOW, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a telephone conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton on Friday to discuss the situation in Egypt and Syria, as well as the Middle East settlement and Iran’s nuclear program.

The conversation was held on the initiative of Catherine Ashton, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
